The most comprehensive update of The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™ will be unveiled this afternoon at IUCN’s World Conservation Congress in Barcelona. The Red List now covers nearly 45,000 species. The Global Mammal Assessment will be released at the same time and will include an update on all 5,490 of the world’s mammals.
