Summary of the book « Mauritania - Nature and Landscape », edited in 2011 by OAPN with the collaboration of IUCN-Med.
Publication written within the framework of the collaboration between the delegated ministry to the first minister in charge of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Mauritania Islamique Republic, and the Autonomous Organism of National Parks (OAPN in Spanish) belonging to the Spanish ministry of Environment, Rural and Marine environments.
The publication is about the results of this collaboration in the environmental field, which was given an impetus during the last years following the “Memorandum for national parks and other protected areas” signed in 2005 by the Spanish and Mauritanian authorities.
This book is the fruit of a common concern: the conservation of biodiversity and protected natural spaces, in a constant changing world threatened by global change and biodiversity disappearance, the latter constituting the basis of our planet’s existence. The photographs and texts of this book highlight the great natural richness of Mauritania, showing to the reader the vast cultural heritage of the country and its biodiversity’s richness.
