The WLGSP
The Water Law and Governance Support Platform has been developed in the framework of BRIDGE (Building River Dialogue and Governance), financed by the Water Diplomacy Programme of the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation (SDC).
Beyond the regions and basins targeted by IUCN projects we want to further support third parties and interested actors from the political and academic world. Therefore, we intend to assist a large international community and interested actors in getting a better understanding of the pros and cons, opportunities and barriers of appropriate management of shared water resources.
In order to facilitate this understanding, a collection of diverse material will be available online. The aforementioned material is useful for clarifying the meaning of key terms (i.e. Glossary), helpful in serving as a guidance in the development of legal and institutional instruments (i.e. Questions & Answers Archive) and convenient for showing existing and successful experience in the matter (i.e. Regional Situation Analysis and Case studies).
Among the resources, a series of relevant publications on the issues of water law, management and governance is also available. These books embrace the theoretical foundations of good water governance as they incorporate the main concepts and principles that guide activities on the ground. Finally, the link to the ECOLEX website is a valuable tool for further investigation on existing legislation and literature on water governance.
