Keeping the spirit of the 2012 Congress alive

IUCN is pleased to announce the launch of the IUCN Conservation Trends Platform, which illustrates trends for conservation based on analysis undertaken during the Forum of the 2012 IUCN World Conservation Congress on a selection of workshops under each Congress theme. A Trend Report has been produced for each day, identifying the main conservation messages coming out of the collective work.

IUCN 2012 Congress - Forum

The platform gathers all of the information generated during the Forum: information about each session, PowerPoint presentations and video recordings for workshops and conservation campus sessions*, background documents, pictures and contact information.

It is the first time in the history of IUCN Congresses that such a platform has been made available. This has been possible thanks to the efforts of event organisers before and during the Congress, but the true meaning and future usefulness of this platform will also depend on all conservationists.

Event organizers are encouraged to publish information on how the outcomes of their sessions live on and to share information that has come out of their sessions. All other members of the conservation community are invited to use the platform, promote it, and engage in discussions with event organizers. Make it yours and use it to best suit your needs. We have done the basic work, but it is now up to you to keep this platform alive and convert it into something useful for conservation.

For more information about what IUCN will be doing between 2013 and 2016 to address the issues and trends identified at Congress, see the IUCN Programme 2013-2016.

For more information on the process of gathering these Conservations Trends, please refer to the Conservation Trends Platform Overview document.
