BACKGROUND
In the face of the current environmental and sustainable development challenges for Mediterranean communities, the TransCap programme aims to consolidate the role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) supporting environmental conservation in the provinces of Morocco and Tunisia along the Mediterranean.
EXPECTED RESULTS
By strengthening the technical, administrative and financial capacities of CSOs protecting the environment, TransCap will support the implementation of measures for biodiversity conservation, as well as for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
A maximum of €60,000 will be dedicated to financing 12-month projects of up to €10,000.
CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
GOALS
The objectives of the TransCap are to:
1. Support initiatives contributing to biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation-adaptation;
2. Strengthen the organisational and institutional capacities of beneficiary CSOs;
3. Promote the exchange and collaboration between CSOs at a national and regional level;
4. Disseminate the experiences and achievements of the program at national and regional levels.

Priority will be given to:
- CSOs, women’s associations and youth federations implemented in the elegible areas
- Field actions with a demonstrable contribution to biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation and adaptation
-Projects in line with political priorities and strategies of local and national authorities
-Participatory approaches including local communities and gender equity
-Projects generating socio-economic benefits besides their impact on nature conservation
-Innovative and feasible actions regarding the post-Covid era

IUCN-MED'S ROLE
IUCN-Med Secretariat acts as the coordinator and managing institution of the entire programme. A national coordinator in each country is providing an ongoing follow up and support to the OSC on the field.
