The 40th session of the World Heritage Committee will continue from 24 to 26 October 2016 at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris. The session, which took place in July in Istanbul, Turkey, was suspended three days ahead of the planned schedule on 17 July.
Outstanding issues will be discussed, including proposals for boundary modifications and revisions of the World Heritage Convention’s operational guidelines.
The discussions in Istanbul were webcast live and video records can be consulted online.
As an official advisory body, IUCN makes recommendations on natural sites to the World Heritage Committee. These recommendations are available online. The decisions taken in July by the Committee will be made available by UNESCO’s World Heritage Centre in October.
