IUCN and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) have collaborated to help boost private sector efforts in conserving biodiversity and ecosystem services (BES). Together they have developed The Framework for Corporate Action on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Launched during the Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum 2012, the framework provides a framework for developing, implementing, and disclosing policies and practices on biodiversity and ecosystem services that are integrated into corporate sustainability strategies. The framework includes ten recommendations for building biodiversity in business strategies, and a checklist for action, developed with the support of a working group including representatives from the private sector, NGOs, and business associations.
