Knowledge for Impact Café - Global Landscapes Forum

Date and venue: Warsaw UniversityRoom (111, 112 & 113), Old Library Building Saturday November 16, 2013, 16:30 - 18:30

Global Landscapes Forum: Generating and disseminating knowledge for impact is a core part of our mission. We believe that smarter forest policy, informed by solid evidence and timely analysis, can improve rural livelihoods, reduce unsustainable and illegal logging, spur investment in forests and trees, and reconcile different needs at the landscape level.

But how do we get from analysis to improved impact? How can we design more useful policy solutions, improve knowledge uptake and achieve change? And how do we capture the attention of different audiences in a busy information landscape?

This workshop will seek to tap the collective wisdom of participants at the Global Landscapes Forum, held in conjunction with the UN climate change talks in Warsaw, to improve the impact of our collective knowledge products. Following short presentations, participants will have the opportunity to discuss in a “café” setting key questions including:

  1. What makes knowledge generation and uptake successful?
  2. What are some of the barriers to sharing knowledge about landscapes?
  3. How well do we know what other people need to know?
  4. What are some of the tools we can use to listen and design more effective knowledge products and pathways?
