Regions

BRIDGE (Building River Dialogue and Governance) is currently implemented in 14 transboundary river and lake basins in 6 regions.

Eastern Africa

In Eastern Africa BRIDGE is working in two transboundary basins: Pungwe River (Mozambique – Zimbabwe) and the Lake Malawi/Niassa/Nyasa (Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique).

Horn of Africa

In the Horn of Africa, BRIDGE will support the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in coordinating member states’ efforts in the water sector.

Mekong Area

In Asia, the BRIDGE initiative seeks to facilitate cooperative processes in the Sekong (Viet Nam-Lao PDR-Cambodia), Sesan (Viet Nam-Cambodia) and Sre Pok (Viet Nam-Cambodia) river basins.

Mesoamerica

In Central America, BRIDGE activities are implemented on three pilot sites: The Coatan (Mexico - Guatemala), The Goascorán (Honduras - El Salvador), and the Sixaola (Costa Rica  - Panama) river basins.

South America

In the Andes, BRIDGE activities are implemented on three pilot sites: the Zarumilla (Peru - Ecuador), the Catamayo-Chira (Peru - Ecuador), and the Lake Titicaca, TDPS System (Peru - Bolivia).

West and Central Africa

In West and Central Africa, BRIDGE is working in two transboundary basins: the Mano River (Liberia – Sierra Leone) and the Lake Chad (Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameroon).
