This self-paced e-learning course presents the fundamentals of contemporary protected areas law. It provides a tool for individual learners to access practical legal concepts, knowledge and materials they can use to improve governance of protected areas through their own work. The course is designed for protected area managers and conservation practitioners, but it can be used by anyone interested in improving their understanding of protected areas law.
The course is part of Conservation Training Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA) curriculum. It consistes of two modules. Module one provides an introduction to protected areas law. Module two addresses special legal issues related to marine protected areas, transboundary protected areas, and connectivity conservation.
