Support Facilities

The Support Facilities provide advice on demand and technical assistance to governments and stakeholders on water governance, including on effective institutional and legal frameworks, and communications to promote applications of lessons learned, advice and demonstration results in transboundary hot spots regionally and globally. They are an additional, global component of BRIDGE.

In addition, the Support facilities capture and synthezise experiences and lessons learned from the demonstration basins and communicate these at the regional and global level.

So far, key results of the Support Facilities include:

  • Training packages on transboundary water governance and negotiation, as well as sharing the benefits of transboundary water resources. A new training course on national level water legislation is currently being developed.

  • A leadership development programme to catalyse the formation of a network of transboundary water champions

  • Opening up of dialogues on water diplomacy at global and regional levels through the convening of seminars, workshops, and training courses

  • The devlopment of different tools to promote and facilitate the application of the water governance training package in the different regions

The Support Facilities are composed of the Environmental Law Centre and the Water Programme.
