An introduction to CEC. This tri-fold brochure was produced in October 2010 and updated in March 2011.
Faced with climate change and biodiversity loss, people are ready for messages that change hearts, minds and even behaviours. CEC seeks to engage and inspire people to value and protect nature – from policy makers to natural resource managers on the ground.
Bringing science to life through Communication, Education and Public Awareness
CEPA has the potential to unlock global action on biodiversity conservation. To be successful, communicators must use science and policy wisely, to develop messages that inspire people around the world about life on earth.
Communication, Education and Public Awareness (CEPA): A Toolkit for National Focal Points and NBSAP Coordinators
This toolkit brings science to life. Fact sheets, checklists and examples introduce users to the practical side of CEPA.
The aim is to heighten the impact of national biodiversity strategies and action plans. Tools and methods include information exchange, dialogue, education and social marketing. The IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (Frits Hesselink, Wendy Goldstein, Peter Paul van Kempen, Tommy Garnett and Jinie Dela) developed the toolkit for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
This eight-page publication explains the role of communication as a policy tool and integrating biodiversity into the work of other sectors. It argues the case for the work programme on education and public awareness for the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Ca explique le rôle de la communication comme un instrument politique et l’intégration de la biodiversité dans des autres secteurs. La publication présente l’argument pour le programme de travail sur l’éducation et la conscience publique pour la Convention de la Diversité Biologique.
