Accelerating Action

Accelerating action on REDD+ through forest landscape restoration

SUMMARY: Through the Accelerating Action project, World Resources Institute (WRI) and IUCN seek to catalyse processes contributing to forest landscape restoration across 150 million hectares by the end of 2020. This will support wider REDD+ efforts, help to meet The Bonn Challenge, and strengthen the Global Partnership on Forest Landscape Restoration (GPFLR).

Three major outcomes will result from this initiative:

Inspire: Increased political inspiration, support ambitious commitments to forest landscape restoration/REDD+ actions in the six priority countries and emerging globally.

Enable: Obstacles to restoration are identified and being addressed through national and sub-national plans, policies and/or institutional frameworks.

Mobilize: Strong capacity, financial support and credible measurement and monitoring of restoration activities provided, thereby contributing to the success of REDD+ initiatives and climate smart agriculture.
