Working with Sumatra to restore natural wonders

The Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra, Indonesia, is now on the List of World Heritage Sites in Danger. IUCN Member, Fauna and Flora International, will be among the groups working with local authorities to address the issues raised and bring this site back to its full potential.

Fauna and Flora International's Tony Whitton

Road construction and agricultural encroachment are among the major threats of this area. Tony Whitton works for Fauna and Flora International in the Asia-Pacific region. He is very pleased with the result from the World Heritage Committee in Paris.

The Committee took this important decision after several years of debate, and we now need to ensure that it leads to a real action on the ground to tackle long standing threats. Fauna and Flora International's Tony Whitton knows how to do it.
