Utilizing landscape scale forest ecosystem rehabilitation as a cost effective bridge for the integrated deployment of national land-based mitigation and adaptation strategies
SUMMARY: The project aims to stimulate global awareness and commitment to landscape-scale forest ecosystem rehabilitation as a bridge between land-based mitigation and adaptation, and pilot initiatives to optimise the implementation of “best bet” actions that can simultaneously contribute to both objectives. The project focuses on seven countries: Peru, El Salvador, Mexico, India, Viet Nam, Kenya, and Uganda.
The project focuses on 3 strategies:
- Reveal and Connect: Stimulating commitment among decision-makers and investors for FLR through cutting edge global analysis, high profile events, networking and international policy interventions;
- Learn and Empower: Identifying national or sub-national “best bets” for optimizing coherent implementation of land-based mitigation and adaptation strategies; and
- Influence and Optimize: Supporting national or sub-national policy and programme development that integrates the “best bets” and optimizes opportunities to bring together existing policies, programmes and processes.
