Minna Epps is the Director of IUCN’s Global Marine and Polar Programme where she oversees the operations and development of the programme by seeking new strategic partnerships. She is very engaged in the Global Ocean Agenda participating in various management groups, boards and high-level networks. Minna has over 20 years of experience in international environmental work primarily in the marine field, with everything from fieldwork in Madagascar to policy work in Geneva.
She brings her experience from the Marine Stewardship Council, European Commission, UNEP, WTO, as well as conservation NGOs. Minna is a marine biologist with studies from Imperial College, Rhode Island School of Oceanography and UC Berkeley.
She is also a trained communications professional with vast experience in strategic communication and running campaigns.

Dan Laffoley is Principal Advisor on Marine Science and Conservation for IUCN's Global Marine and Polar Programme and also acts as Marine Vice-Chair for the World Commission on Protected Areas. He is a leading global expert on ocean conservation. He has a place on the Boards and Councils of many UK leading marine science organisations and acts as an independent advisor to the UK Government on marine science. Through his work, Dan provides knowledge, innovation and leadership on new ways for delivering marine conservation which lever greater action and attention for the ocean. His proven track record involves working with leading scientists to create initiatives that bring new knowledge into policy on issues such as coastal carbon sinks, climate change and ocean acidification.
