Magellanic Penguins

The mission of the IUCN Global Species Programme, in conjunction with the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) and partners, is to drive the fight to save species for people and nature.

Our main areas of work are:

  • Assessing species conservation status through tools such as The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™

  • Planning suitable mechanisms to reduce species decline through our major programmatic areas

  • Influencing policy by advising national and international policy decisions

  • Acting through on the ground conservation projects such as SOS - Save Our Species
